Coffee Bean

Tucked away in the heart of the city on a side street lies a little shop called Coffee Bean.
Actually its (bean) in Hangul.  The shop is cute, and a typical coffee place, only having about 10 chairs. Most of their business is take out so chairs are not really needed.
We came in and the lady, not sure if she's the owner, was super nice and spoke a little English.
We ordered Iced Cappuccino's and a new version of honey bread.
After we had gone to the previous place, (the coffee house with no name) this was a welcome relief with really amazing Coffee. The honey bread although was different than any other we have tried, was terrible. It was round, ( like a bread bowl) and cut and corn syrup poured inside it. (TERRIBLE). I only had a piece that wasn't filled with the syrup. So unfortunately we left it on the table. So felt so terrible because the lady was so nice, but both Dan and I could not finish it.

The Coffee on the other hand was amazing, bold and crisp. You could see the layers (which I like) and could distinguish what was what. The foam on top was think and lush. Great bold refreshing taste.

Thinking about going to coffee houses, how do we share the Love of Christ with those we come in contact with, in another language. Hm...
As I travel around from place to place, I am struck with the fact that where ever I go, I am instructed to go and make disciples. How do I do this with one visit? or two?

Overall, I would give it a 7 out of 10 coffee beans.
Directions:
From Baskin Robins( 20 bus pickup), and 63th Africa Coffee, after 63th Africa Coffee, make a left down that street. You will come to a t intersection, make a right. It will be straight ahead on the left.
Happy Coffee Housing!

This is a cute decorative box.

This was the sleeve on Dan's hot coffee.

Here are some photos from a reader that went to this coffee house. Looks amazing, Oreo shake, and I think a caramel macchiato.

Remember to send me your photos and experiences and I will share them. Only with permission of course.

what is dutch coffee????

I tried to figure out what exactly is Dutch coffee. this is what I find on ebay. Hope this helps.
Basically cold brew instead of hot brew. It produces a nice full body cup of coffee.

Coffee Bay

Coffee Bay

Today we went to a place on the opposite side of AK plaza. Normally we head out the doors and the right down the escalator, but today we went left.

Who knew there was another side of AK. I didn't even think there was another side so I was super super super excited to venture out there. Vanessa told us she liked this side better because it was quiet.

This place was a typical quick coffee place, but was good. The iced cappuccino I had wasn't anything to write home about, but it tasted good on this 100 degree day.

Dan had a iced mocha, and Vanessa had a berry slush thing. We all shared a honey bread.
(We ordered a garlic butter bread, but got the regular one)
I wouldn't say this is in the same caliber of Jung Jung Wan coffee, or 63th Africa coffee( yes I spelled that correctly), but was good for a quick pick me up.

Directions:

Go on the back side escalator and you will see it on the left. Its in the back circle courtyard.
(Bus 20 drops off in front of AK, take escalator up and then down the back and you will see it)

rating: 5 out of 10 beans

These are 3 flavours on ice.

These are the flavours of the bread. Note you will see English on the side of the Hangul.

A friend told me about a Honey Latte they had that they loved. So I will try it soon.

Black Bean Coffee Factory

Great little (not so little) cafe on the second floor that boasts of small conversations or larger group conversations. There are big tables and nooks that seat at least 10 or the smallest that is a study nook.
Either way you slice it, this place is filled with many memories yet to be had. I had my memory today. I stopped here since I was ready to come home, but my sugar was low and I needed a sugar booster. Oh boy, I got it.
BEST HONEY BREAD EVER!!!
I have had honey bread that Korea is known for, but this by far is the best! This is not on my diet by a long shot, but I needed something to boost my sugar so I could make it home. I suppose a apple juice would have been fine, but I thought why not... I DID NOT FINISH IT!
(which is a shame, but I couldn't)  I only had half and believe me that was enough.
Its sweet but not as sweet as you think, or as it looks.

Please don't judge me on  having this.

Ok, so getting to the coffee, I had a iced white latte,  and it was good. It wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of all ingredients. They ingredients were not separated like usual iced drinks; rather they were all mixed together.
Also, the employee's spoke limited English and were super friendly. They give you an English menu, and you find a seat. There will be a button on the table that you push when you are ready. You will get a receipt at the table and you bring it up to the front to pay when you are done.
Loved it. Also don't worry, I have had water to balance out the coffee. The only bummer in this coffee journey is they don't have decaf. So, I make sure I have it early enough to not make me lose sleep.

Rating: 10 out of 10 coffee beans.

Directions:

if you hold your left hand up as you are facing away from AK Plaza, go on the ring finger street.
Its also the street where you meet the 20 bus at McDonald's. Across the street from McDonald's there will be Baskin Robins, make a left on the street as you pass Baskin Robins.

The cafe will be on the left as you walk.

As you walk in the second floor entrance.

This was my little cubbie area

View looking outside the window. You can 63th Africa Coffee on the left.

Another little nook area.

This is where you get your menu

Enjoy this gem!

Next place to try.

Black bean coffee is next on my list of places to visit.
Anyone want to join me?

Send me your thoughts

I would love to hear your experiences at these places. The goal of this blog is to have 1 place for Americans who are stationed here to go to and find all the shops.
